Starters is incredibly fast paced, and if I’m honest, rather confusing to begin with. We’re thrown straight into the world and the story picks up with Callie, the protagonist, visiting a ‘body bank.’ I thought this book was going to be a lot more sci-fi than it actually was. Starters focussed more on character relationships, which meant it took quite a while for the plot to pick up.

Jay Dee Archer

jay deeBorn in a very small town in Alberta, Canada, I went through an atypical childhood as a nerd, all the way up until university.  I have been living in Fujisawa, Japan, which is near Tokyo, for nearly ten years now.  I’m an English teacher, but writing is my passion.  I’m married and have one daughter.  We will be returning to Canada next year, where I will hopefully find a lot more time to write, and a lot more privacy.  Although I teach English and write, I have a university degree in physics and astronomy from the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia.  This helped fuel my obsession with everything science related, including science-fiction.  When I’m not writing (which is most of the time), I’m playing with my daughter, going out hiking and walking, and blogging.  Through my walking, I also like doing photography, and have gone…

The Water Travelers – Book Two – UPDATE – TCOS

Hello all my lovely friends! I just wanted to give you a little update on what’s going on with Book Two. Unfortunately, the editing process has been taking longer than originally planned. I want this to be good though and I don’t want the job to be rushed, so I’m trying to take my time with it while still trying to get it out to you by April. Right now, if I’m being honest, we’re looking at around April 10th, but that’s definitely tentative! Thanks for all your support with book one, Heir of the Unknown. Please continue to share it and tell your friends and family to get it. As an independent author that means so much to me. Reviews also make my week much much better. It sounds stupid and silly but it really does. So please, check out book one if you haven’t and start some discussion on it. I can’t ask you or thank you enough if you have or will or are thinking about it.

Thanks again everyone, and I can’t wait for The Curse of Senapin to be released 🙂

Book One, ONLY 99 Cents 🙂

Author Nonnie Jules – #onthemarquee

Way to go Nonnie! #RRBC

The Marquee Project

Tomorrow, Rave Reviews Book Club will be on the marquee. Today, it’s Nonnie Jules, the creator of RRBC. I want to very clearly separate the two, though I’ll admit that is sometimes a challenge. Not because Nonnie doesn’t have her own identity as an author, because she most certainly does. But she is always promoting others, always offering support, always coming up with new ways to strengthen the community which is Rave Reviews Book Club. And that is the primary reason that it was important to me that I pay it forward to Nonnie individually.

I recently read Nonnie’s SUGARCOATIN’ IS FOR CANDY & PACIFYIN’ IS FOR KIDS!: “Yes, I Said It!” and let me tell you…it was just what I needed at just the right time. In addition to SUGARCOATIN’ IS FOR CANDY…, Nonnie is the author of THE GOOD MOMMIES’ GUIDE TO RAISING (ALMOST) PERFECT…
