SO much growth happened in this book! Celeana goes from kid in the castle who has some really talented fighting skills to magical warrior who comes to face herself. Although at times I can see where people say it’s slow, I liked it. Personally, if the slow moments are good, I like them because those are the most realistic things, like it’s not always action and adventure. So the progression from Celeana Sardothian to Aelin Ashryver Galathynius while her growing closer and closer to Rowan I thought was paced perfectly.

But speaking of that…Rowan and Aelin. Or as Tumblr likes to put it Rowalin.

I don’t know, like I’m not on the fence about it, but there I still want to see what becomes of Chaol. Because she’s been spending all this time with Rowan and for the entire book Chaol didn’t really have any growth until the end when all shit hits the fan, I felt like Chaol was really put on the back burner and Rowan got the spotlight. Which, was cool, don’t get me wrong, I’m just excited to see what happens in the next few books. My one thing with Rowan was that I started to get annoyed by his lack of warriorness. He’s talked up as such a stone cold, warrior with such “lethal calmness” countless times yet whenever he was in a fight…

He ran from the skinwalkers.

Ran from the Valg.

And he AND his deadly warrior comrades were almost overrun by a measly 200 soldiers…

I don’t know, that was just a little disappointing. I wanted to see him in action–like real action. No just punching Celeana once or killing one or two soldiers. From the way he was talked up, I expected Rowan to be able to take the 200 men on blindfolded with one hand behind his back…

But other than that, I really love the character and can’t wait to go on more adventures.

But I’d have to say, my favorite character from Heir of Fire was Manon Blackbeak.

Brining a witch into the action is amazing. Manon is so tactical, thought out and brilliant while not being overbearing or obnoxious. Granted she was contrasted to Irshka who could’t look at a brick wall without grinning, but still, Manon was the lethal calm. And her Thirteen…

My goodness. This squadron of witches are probably one of, if not my favorite addition to this already amazing series.

But in the midst of being surrounded by the most ruthless bloodline in existence, Manon reverberates an ethos that I can’t wait to see come to fruition. What I mean by that is, MANON TOTALLY HAS A HEART AND I LOVE THAT ABOUT HER. I can’t wait to see who she becomes and what becomes of her thirteen and the relationships and of Arbraxos (I know I probs misspelled that.) Idk, she was so unique and special and her character is going to go through so much I feel. WHICH, brings me to a theory…

It’s a little far fetched, but at the same time it isn’t…

I found something odd while looking at the books. Celeana Sardothian is supposed to have blonde hair and in the first two books she’s often wearing gowns and things and as dumb as it’d be to portray her on the cover wearing that because it doesn’t really capture Celeana, the cover art is interesting.

Celeana doesn’t have white hair, but you know who does? Manon Blackbeak.

Celeana doesn’t always wear lethal rouge clothing, but you know who does.

And Celeana doesn’t have a red cape, BUT YOU KNOW WHO DOES.

MANON BLACKBEAK.

coverbattlethroneofglass_2 copy

I’m just saying, could it be a possibility that the girl we see on the cover isn’t Celeana Sardothian but is actual Manon Blackbeak? If you have anything to comment on this I’d love to hear it, even if it debunks my theory!

Whether it’s true or not, I’m still really curious to see what paths Manon takes.

Drifting to one of the other Magical characters, Dorian.

Him and Sorcha were so cute, and I loved the simplicity of their relationship. But why didn’t Dorian freeze the place before you know what happened rather than after. I get it, the arrow was going for Chaol and Dorian had cracked after you know what happened, but I just feel like he would have exploded to stop it, you know?

Nevertheless, I nervous for the prince. He’s been one of my favorite characters for a while, and although he still wasn’t as funny as he was in the first book, I still root for him.

And what of Aedion Ashryver.

As much as the brute started off on a bad note, he’s the only one who I really felt like lived up to his expectations. In that alley, he took down six me effortlessly, as he was expected. And he remained a brute, caring about his kingdom and doing what was just. For as disrespectful as he was at times, he’s a respectable character. I’ve seen some things around tumblr mixing him and Aelin, but I do hope that’s not the case. Geesh if it is at this rate the books could just be called:

Book One: Dorian

Book Two: Chaol

Book Three: Sort of Rowan

Book Four: (This complicated thing between all the previous and also introducing..) Aedion

I saw this on Tumblr and being behind the first wave craze of this series this is how I feel sometimes…

Anyways,

I loved the book. I love the series.

Rating: 8.5/10

Queen of Shadows just came in the mail but a little sibling hid it somewhere (Idk why but she likes to hide the books I’m reading for some reason so as soon as it came in the mail she was like oh can I see it and Naturally I was like sure and then she ran off and I have no clue where she put)

BUT WHEN I FIND IT

I’ll be sure to start Queen of Shadows soon and I can’t wait to continue the adventure.

What are your thoughts on the TOG series?? Who’s your favorite character? Please don’t spoil anything from QoS!

Odis Pogg – Chapter 4: Odis And A LOT Of Water

Chapter 4 of Odis Pogg is out!

odischapter4

Last Chapter left off with Odis and Yerowslii being taken captive by Pirates while chasing Ula! (Note, Ulsa has been changed to Ula.) Hope you enjoy this chapter as Odis faces a lot of water…

– Odis And A Lot Of Water –

Shackles jingling and jangling were not the most friendly of things to wake up to. They were so annoying, the way they clinked and clanged. And they were cold, always cold. No matter how long your hot skin pressed against them, shackles always remained cold. But the worst was probably the smell. That salty corroding rust—and just knowing that that is what your skin was being pressed against.

Shackles were awful. Good thing they weren’t on Yerowslii. But poor Odis. Well, Yerowslii didn’t feel too bad for him. The Keeper was stuck in his own little prison to be fair. The couch he had was hardly cushioned.

New Year. New Month. Fresh TBR List…Sort of.

TBWRAPL.jpg

2016 is here to stay for a whole year. Can’t get rid of this thing, geesh. But it’s not just moving into our lives without brining some things for us too. It brings new months, new days, and it’s bound to bring new experiences. So starting off with both feet on the ground, (actually one leg is currently under the other as I sit in a chair writing this) I’m going to lay out my JANUARY TBR list. But I’m gonna take it a step further. This is my

TBWRAPL

To Be Written Read and Played List

Most of you understand a TBR list (books that are To Be Read) but this list encompasses writing and, yes, I’m actually going to try and set some time aside for this, games to play.

You may think games are kind of silly to set a list for, especially when it comes to games like Video Games. But I think there’s a great value in all things games, be them board games, video games, made up games, sports, whatever–I don’t think they get enough love and I think all of them are healthy ways to stimulate some creativity. So yeah, I’m going to try and set time aside to play video games and other games this month and if it goes well maybe every month of our new friend 2016.

So without further or do…

First, Books

1. Harry Potter

Harry_Potter_and_the_Sorcerer's_Stone.jpg

Not the entire series, but at least the first book! As most of you (probably few of you) know, I’VE NEVER READ THE HARRY POTTERS…OR SEEN THEM. (beside the first two which I saw before the age of ten.) So, after getting the first three for Christmas, I think it’s time to start book one. (I must finish The Rest Of Us Just Live Here first though.)

2. Clean Up.

I hate the idea of fixing some baggage as we go into a clean slate, but I have got a massive already started but haven’t yet finished book list already. I need to close those before I open other books (yes I’m still planning on opening HP but that’s it.) The books I’m currently reading and plan to finish include:

  • The Watchmaker Of Filigree Street
  • The Night Circus
  • The Rest Of Us Just Live Here (Loving it loving it loving it I’ll probably finish it today)
  • Heir of Fire (Also in love. I’m not ready for it to end because then I’ll have to get Queen of Shadows and then I’ll finish that and then I’ll have to wait for the next one to be written but in the mean time I’ll read ACOTAR and ACOMAF.)
  • Do Over

So yeah. I’ve got a lot to read and if you know me I’m not the fastest reader because I tend to take pauses and soak in what’s going on because I like to think I’m right there with my people. But I’m gonna go for it. And I’m gonna do it.

But before I drowned myself with more books I can’t wait to read, it’s time to move on to the Written list.

1. 10,000 words of Book Three in The Water Travelers series.

As most of you know (I’m sure most you actually reading this know this) I’m an author. I write books. Or something like that.

And I love it.

The Water Travelers is my baby and but I haven’t shown as much love to Book Three when it comes to actually writing it, because I’ve been so busy trying to make sure it’s good. There’s a lot going on. A lot happened in Book Two: The Curse of Senapin and a lot more is about to happen. Aaron and Madi have things going on, Samuel met Rosaline, Thomas is well…Thomas. Yerowslii has secretes coming into light and the worlds are in chaos and oh yeah Ugine and all his stuff that he has to…he’s got a lot. And I don’t want it to be rushed or taken lightly in anyway! I will let you know the book will have a Part One and Part Two, no it won’t come out separately it’s just gonna be a big book.

2. 4 More Chapters of Odis Pogg

Odis Pogg2

This quirky adventure of Yerowslii’s younger years has been a lot of fun, and if you haven’t started it yet you’re not far behind at all. Continuing this is gonna be a lot of fun! I’ve loved hearing what you guys think of it so far!

3. 4 more Chapters of P0llyanna

To answer some of your questions, no, it’s not a part of TWT series. It’s completely separate from TWT Series and I can’t wait to keep this crazy adventure going. If you haven’t started that, you’re not far behind either!

4. 3,000 words of CAPTAIN HETTRA

You may have heard about some of this. Ugine is getting his own story. Look out for it this month!

And onto the games…

To keep this simple, I have only one game I’m going to try and spend some time in this month.

The Legend of Zelda

5844151001_e2e9fbe033_o 2

(I know there’s a lot of games in this (series?) but my goal is just to play some Zelda.)

I’ve loved the Zelda games since I picked up a controller for the first time. And honestly, I think they stimulate creativity. All the adventures you go on and places you visit and things you have to overcome. It’s a great way to relax your brain while honing creativty as well, so I’m looking forward to picking up the controller this month.

That’s it Travelers! Hope you’ve enjoyed this months TBWRAPL! What do you have on the radar for January? Any books, games or writing goals? Hope everyone has a fantastic 2016 filled with many adventures!

Odis Pogg – Chapter 4: Odis And A LOT Of Water

odischapter4

Okay so it wasn’t fair.

He was a wizard and Odis wasn’t, and they only had one cell that could hold a magic wielder (not that it could hold Yerowslii, he already did a subtle test on it’s structural integrity and it was pretty shabby) which happened to be the nicer of the prisons.

Odis popped up an eyelid and Yerowslii took a bit of the apple a ship hand—literally just a hand, probably belonged to someone—dropped off nearly twenty minutes ago.

“Morning mate,” Yerowslii said, the juice of the apple rich in taste compared to the stale air.

Odis jolted forward but was held back by the chains. “Where are we?” He rubbed his eyes and did facial moments that made him appear more ape is than whatever he was. His eyes widened and closed and widened again while blinking as though mist was spraying at him before he finally looked at Yerowslii again and said, “Yerowslii, where are we?”

“The middle of the ocean.”

“What?” Odis gasped.

“On a pirate ship.”

Odis flailed to his side, chains still restraining him. His hands around his side and a hand pressed against that molding pirate ship wood he tried again, “What?”

“It’s a vessel that sails across open waters.” Yerowslii crossed his legs and took another bite of the green apple.

“I know what a Pirate ship is.” Odis looked around and then back at the keeper. “Why are we on one though? Why don’t you get us out of here?” He leaned in closer and almost whispered, “Are you stuck? Can you not break out of that cell.”

Yerowslii howled out a jolly laugh. “Oh goodness no I could be out of here in a matter of seconds.”

Odis raised his brows with a forward head notion as if to say, “Okay so do it.”

“My dear Odis.” Certainly it felt good to be the one with the plan again. “As much as I’m apposed to half cared for tapestry and the reek of mildew, I need these pirates as much as they….well, no they don’t really need me.” He took another bite. “But I need them to think they do.”

“And why’s that?”

“Because they are taking us right to Ula. They’re hot on his trail.”

Odis’s eyes widened and he let out a brief, “Oh” before settling back on his elbows. “So what’s the plan?”

Yerowslii grinned. Perhaps Odis wasn’t so bad.

“No talking!” A menacing pirate with half a face, also again, literally half a face, shouted below deck.

“I do apologize. We were just chatting about how we’re looking forward to being sold for scraps. It’s going to be so exciting,” Yerowslii shouted back up and chucked the apple to his side, it flying through the cell bars and colliding with the ship haul. “Oh and how there’s a hole in the ship.” Yerowslii snapped his fingers and the apple exploded.

Water gushed through the now holed haul as the shipmate shouted out, “WHAT?”

“Yeah waters really going everywhere,” Yerowslii shouted back and switched his tone back to the sarcastic pirate he always wanted to b, “And me poor mate ere’s gonna drown ya hear me?”

Shouts and rabble filled the upper decks while water flooded the floor of the cellar. Orders were barked out before dozens of crew burst into the basement, empty buckets in hand.

“You’re gonna need a lot more than that…” Yerowslii said, legs still crossed as the water fall of ocean blasted into the ship.

“Yerowslii,” Odis aggressively whispered, rolling back and forth in the water that was now covering his knees.

“Stand up,” Yerowslii mumbled back.

The harsh whisper of, “I can’t” had Yerowslii getting a little nervous.

“You might want to hurry that up,” he said louder, trying not to sound worried. “Ya need to patch the whole,” he shouted over his shoulder.

“Quite wizard! Or we’ll let ye both drown down here.”

“I’m just saying, you don’t have enough buckets to keep the ocean from coming in.”

The water line was now at Odis’s neck.

“Free me and I’ll patch it with my magic,” Yerowslii through the offer out there but was shout down immediately. “Well then good luck mates.” He leaned back against the shoddy cushion and closed his eyes, popping one open to watch Odis, who took a gulp of air while he could.

“I mean…” Yerowslii spoke again, “It wouldn’t be too difficult for me.”

Pirates tossed bucket after bucket above the haul trying desperately to stop the ship from sinking while attempting to board up the whole with whatever they could find. But it was a pretty big explosion, one that would take some time to patch.

“Aaaaannnd we’re sinking.” And Yerowslii wasn’t bluffing, the ship was literally going under.

His cell door opened, keys dangling from dirt covered fingers as the low voice of the long black bearded captain snarled, “Okay, Wizard. Show us what you’ve got.”

“I’m gonna need my staff,” Yerowslii said with one raised brow.

“I’m not stupid.” The pirate Captain pinned him with a stare. Yerowslii glared back. The captain narrowed his brow. Yerowslii slightly cocked his head. The captain didn’t waver as the ship continued to sink.

Yerowslii grinned. “Pirate till your last breath.” The keeper stood up and pulled Odis, who was not completely covered in water, above the surface first. With one point of his fingers the chains snapped and the dingo was free.

“Breath. Breath,” Yerowslii coxed as Odis coughed up water. “Everything is gonna be alright.”

“What—” Odis gagged on more water. “What took you so long?”

“A time and place,” Yerowslii grinned and he could have swore Odis would have punched him had he not dropped him into the arms of the pirate behind them.

“Wizard let’s go!” The captain shouted.

The ship took a dive as water now rolled over the deck.

The 15 Books That Were The Highlight of 2015 For Me

Maas dominates this list and will probably be dominating mine as well! What were some of your guys favorite books of 2015?
